Real shops. Real pay. Paid the moment your shop is accepted.
You sign up free. You train free. You visit real businesses as an ordinary customer. You report honestly how it went. Mystery shoppers are also called secret shoppers. You must be 21 or older to shop with Hindsight. Hindsight will only ever contact you by email.
Sign up to step into your shopper account.
Start with your phone number.
When the portal opens your account, a six-digit code is texted to that number.
Enter the code. Step inside your account.
Your shops wait there. Your pay. Your units. Your training.
It takes about a minute. Fields marked * are required. Signing up is free. No payment is taken anywhere on this site. Your details serve one purpose. They match you with shops near you.
Thanks for signing up. Signing up is free. Hindsight will follow up with your free training. Your first shops follow. Hindsight will only ever contact you by email.

Shops happen three ways. On-site. By phone. Online. Pick a format. See how that shop works.
You visit as an ordinary customer. Watch the greeting. Watch the service. Watch the cleanliness. Watch the follow-up. File the report from your phone after the visit.
You call as an ordinary customer. Notice how the phone is answered. Notice whether your question gets resolved. Notice whether anyone follows up. One hard rule: never record a conversation.
You use the website or app as an ordinary customer. Find information. Book or order. Report the follow-up you receive.

Understand this before your first shop. You work with Hindsight as an independent contractor (a subcontractor). You do not work as an employee of Hindsight. The work is yours to choose. You pick which shops to claim. You can turn any shop down. Nobody assigns you work you have to take.
Pay. You are paid per completed shop. Payment is made immediately after your shop is accepted. Clients prepay for their programs. The money is already in place before your shop runs. The fee you saw is the fee you get. Some shops carry a visit allowance. The business covers what the visit requires. The allowance is separate from your fee. Location and time are verified together. Your report carries a location stamp from your phone. The stamp must place you at the shop, inside its window. A report filed away from the location is flagged. A flagged report is not paid.
Growth Units. Hindsight is built to share its growth with the shoppers who create it — every accepted shop earns a Growth Unit, and when the business reaches the point where Growth Units are feasible, the shoppers who built it hold them. That’s the goal we’re building toward — not a guarantee. One shop. One unit. It lands the moment your shop is accepted, beside your pay. The program is being structured now. Full details will be published on this page before any units are granted. Units begin only when that point is reached.
Taxes. You are a contractor. Hindsight does not withhold taxes from your pay. Plan for that. At tax time, Hindsight reports your earnings to the IRS on Form 1099-NEC. That is the IRS form for contractor pay. The report is made when your pay for the year reaches the IRS reporting threshold of $600. Hindsight sends you your copy by January 31. You owe taxes on your shop earnings whether or not you receive a form. Keep your own records. Record the pay you receive. Record the expenses you have.
Your tax details. Your paid work starts. Then your tax information (Form W-9) is collected separately. It is collected securely. It is never collected on this public sign-up form. Hindsight will never ask for your Social Security number anywhere on this website.

Every Hindsight shop follows one bright line. Our people are ordinary customers. Nothing more.
Do: evaluate the experience as an ordinary customer. Greeting. Cleanliness. Speed. Script compliance. Facilities. Food quality. Stay quality.
Never do: surveillance. No following any person. No investigating any person. No integrity stings. No theft stings. No testing an individual employee for wrongdoing. No gathering evidence about a person. No recording conversations. Our shoppers act only as ordinary customers evaluating a service.
Photos: shoppers photograph what a guest can see. The property. Their receipt. Their invoice. Each photo is filed inside the report as evidence. Never restricted areas. Never another guest’s documents. A photo is not a recording. No conversation is ever recorded.
